The ability to trace or click on a number of points on the map to create a route. then having the ability for this to be saved as a GPX file so that the route can be loaded into a GPS device.

Suggestions / Ability to capture coordinates at a sepcific point on map

The ability to judge the distance by drawing a trace line on the map. This would enable a user to trace a footpath, road or area and then have it calculate the distance using the current scale.

Everything else... / Bingham - Newton pathway
« Last Post by Kasia on January 29, 2017, 01:53:31 pm »
Hi,

I'm planning to move to Newton from Bingham. I was wondering what is the quickest way to walk from Newton to the Market Street in Bingham.
I know there is a walk bridge over A46 but this would make it a hell of a walk. If I do walk this way, I'd be with a little baby, so I'd need a pushchair friendly path. Please advise.

Interesting news for people that like this site is that from 10 June when the OS Explorer Outdoor Leisure (OL) paper maps go on sale they will include a digital download of that map that you can keep on your device for offline use.
It's good to see the OS are embracing the modern age.

Hi Thanks for the message, sorry for the delay in replying.
Thanks for the suggestions, the first one is certainly doable, but not so sure about the second one. OS T&C do not allow duplicate websites either which is a pain.

Are you not able to do that with the print button? I.e. find the area that you are interested in and print?

Suggestions / Select Area And Print

I would like to simply select an area of OS 1:50000 and 1:25000, at various sizes between credit card and A4, then print it accurately.

I have a brand new Chromebook and at the moment, it looks as though this is the only website (or app) which offers anything with any useful functionality regarding OS maps.

There are still a lot of people who want or need paper maps like myself because they offer the greatest mapping detail and readability, with no weight penalty and, the battery doesn't go flat. We are trail runners, fell runners, mountain and road bikers, mountain leaders and soldiers. If we want paper maps from the shop they cost about £7 and a bit for a large sheet, most of which may be of no interest. Thats why I would like to just be able to select and print!

Given that cost for a shop bought map, I would be quite happy to pay a small fee for a small section of map.

Hi Jonn,

First time I've tried to use the site. It's unfortunate that, due to the Ordnance Survey restriction, your apparently popular site has run out of data, again. Is there any chance you could publish the daily time you run out of data on your front page (just show "data last ran out" date & time)?

Thinking ahead... I haven't managed to access the data so I don't really know... if Ordnance Survey (cruelly) restrict say each website to the amount of OUR (sic) data we can access daily, maybe there will be some way you can enable us all to download a personal web page (+ sufficient data to 'auto' register if that's required with OS) and all get a personal data allowance!
